Where did you go to school and complete your training?
Northwestern College for undergrad and Indiana University School of Optometry. My focus is in ocular disease.
What drew you to a career in eye care?
I was highly intrigued by the intersection of biology, physics, and optics.
How would you describe your approach to patient care?
My approach is conservative and thoughtful. Every treatment or surgery involves weighing risks and benefits, and I strive to ensure the benefit always outweighs the risk. My goal is to recommend interventions that are safe, effective, and truly in the patient’s best interest.
What is something patients might be surprised to learn about you?
I speak conversational Dutch.
Any hobbies, side passions, or fun talents outside of medicine?
Running, woodworking, fishing, and reading theology and history.
What is your favorite local spot for food, coffee, or getting outside?
Big Poppa’s deep dish pizza or anything at Look’s.
What inspires you, personally or professionally?
Doing my best in all endeavors. It honors God and serves my neighbor.
What is a recent moment at work that made you proud?
It happens frequently, and I am always proud when patients compliment the staff around me.
