MEET THE DOCTOR

Michael Eide, MD

Cornea, Cataracts

Dr. Eide restores clarity by treating corneal disease and eye infections. He’s precise, thorough, and always focused on bringing a patient’s vision back into focus.

Where did you go to school and complete your training?
USD School of Medicine, followed by residency at John H. Stroger Hospital in Chicago and a corneal disease fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I specialize in cataracts, corneal disease, and corneal transplants.

What drew you to a career in eye care?
Sight is such an important part of people’s lives, and being able to help save or improve vision made ophthalmology very appealing.

What is a recent moment at work that made you proud?
Whenever a patient comes in because a friend or family member recommended me, I feel proud. No amount of advertising compares to the power of a word-of-mouth recommendation.

What inspires you, personally or professionally?
Doctors are privileged to be trusted by patients with their health, which is their most valuable asset. That trust inspires me.

What is something patients might be surprised to learn about you?
I grew up on a sheep ranch.

If you were not a doctor, what would you be doing?
I have always enjoyed technology, so probably something in computers or IT.

What is your go-to coffee order (or beverage of choice)?
I am more of a hot chocolate person.

Are you a cat or dog person?
Definitely dog. There is a reason people call them man’s best friend.
