Cornea, Refractive, Cataracts

Dr. Bordewyk focuses on life-changing cataracts and vision correction procedures. She helps patients envision their future with a brighter, sharper focus.

Where did you go to school and complete your training?
I went to medical school at the University of South Dakota. I completed my ophthalmology residency at Penn State University and a fellowship in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon. I started at Ophthalmology LTD in September 2023 after I completed my training.

What drew you to a career in eye care?
The chance to make a real difference in people’s lives by helping them see better. Vision is such a vital part of how we experience the world, and restoring or preserving it is incredibly fulfilling. I also genuinely enjoy getting to know my patients, whether it is during a clinic visit or as part of their surgical care, and being someone they can trust throughout their journey.

What is something patients might be surprised to learn about you?
I have an adventurous side. I have gone skydiving and have swum alongside sharks and stingrays.

What is on your surgical (OR) playlist?
My OR playlist is usually a mix of classic rock, 90s hits, and country music. I like something that keeps the energy up and the mood positive.

Any hobbies, side passions, or fun talents outside of medicine?
These days my main hobby is chasing after my kids, and honestly that is a full-time workout. When I do get a moment to myself, I love traveling, going for walks or hikes, and catching a good concert. It is a great way to reset and enjoy the little things that bring joy.

Are you a cat or dog person?
Dog person. I have two mini Australian labradoodles at home.

What is your favorite local spot for food, coffee, or getting outside?
One of my favorite local spots is Oshima Sushi. It is cozy, the sushi is fresh, and the service is always on point.
